Our work

Our work

Hft Cheshire & Merseyside are focussed on providing person-centred services to support people with learning disabilities to live the life they choose.

Our work

Personal / Individual budgets
Now individuals can request their own budgets so they can choose the service they want. Hft has become a preferred provider for this type of support and we find solutions to the support people require.

Day Services
We offer a variety of leisure activities for people with learning disabilities across the Cheshire,  Wirral and Liverpool areas. Activities are either run by Hft or in conjunction with local partners and venues.

People we support can take part in lots of different activities including:

  • Dance
  • Drama
  • Music
  • Swimming
  • Aerobics
  • Learning IT skills

Supported employment
Having a job is something many of us take for granted, yet it can play a key part in getting people involved in their community and building confidence and independence.

We support a number of people in finding work and volunteering opportunities, doing everything from working in supermarkets, to garden centres, to post room duties at a local TV studio.

Supported living
We support people to live independently, whether that’s providing 24 hour support, or just a few hours a day.

As well as supporting people in our own properties, we also work closely with private landlords, housing associations and specialist housing organisations in the Cheshire area to find suitable accommodation.

Personalised technology
Hft in Cheshire has become a centre of expertise in using assistive technology devices (or Personalised Technology as we call it) to help people with learning disabilities live as independently and safely as possible.

Case Study - "Technology has opened up a whole new world for me"
Jo has benefited from using technology devices in her everyday life.

She uses a voice prompt by her front door that reminds her to take her keys and shut her windows when she goes out.

Jo loves her music and finds her handy noise level detector really useful because it lets her know when things are getting too loud.

Also, after being given a laptop, Jo has learnt to use the internet which has broadened her world considerably. She's been inspired to write her life story in PowerPoint on her own.
Domiciliary / home care
We offer home support services for however long people need.

Specialist support
We are able to support people with a range of specialist and complex support needs.
