Our work

At Hft Surrey we support people with learning disabilities across Surrey and South London in many different ways but with one common goal: to support them to live the life they choose.

Our work

At Hft Surrey, we provide a range of support services for people with learning disabilities  across Surrey and South London. Our support services include:

Supported Living

We provide supported living services for people with learning disabilities around the Kingston area.

Residential services
We run a small residential home for 6 people in New Malden.

Leisure activities
We offer a huge range of leisure opportunities at our Activity and Social Centre.

Leisure activities at the centre have included:

  • Bowling
  • Companion Cycling
  • Line dancing
  • Yoga
  • Karaoke
  • Water-skiing
  • Sailing
  • Jewellery making
  • Go-karting
  • Skiing
  • Horse riding
  • Using the gym

The centre is open to everyone in the local community, with rooms available to hire and a full programme of leisure and life skill opportunities.

We also run days out, get involved with local community arts festivals and hold open days so families, carers and providers can see what’s on offer.

A number of people we support have learnt DJ skills - as a result we have a resident volunteer DJ at the centre running weekly discos and other very popular evening events.

The centre is also home to our weekly Fit Club at which people can be weighed, take part in games and join an aerobics session run by a professional teacher.

Employment
A number of people we support are employed at the resource centre either as volunteers, to gain work experience, or as paid members of staff.

Education
We run a range of educational and life skills courses including bus training, health awareness and computer skills. We can also support people to access courses at local colleges.

Involvement
The people we support regularly get involved in organising leisure evenings at the activity centre, such as quizzes, country dancing nights and discos. People volunteer to work in the canteen and have also taken part in fundraising to buy new equipment for the centre.
