At Hft Sussex we provide a range of support services for people with learning disabilities.
We can support people in their own homes, also providing bespoke service to support people individually and through shared hours.
Residential care services
We provide residential care at our site at Walberton and in nearby towns and villages.
We offer a range of day activities, including a woodwork workshop, with some specially adapted equipment.
Our Focus Skills service is designed for people with more profound learning disabilities. We provide a sensory room, cooking classes and other community activities.
In Walberton, our Sussex Orchards project provides occupation and training for people with learning disabilities supported by Hft. The orchard contains over 1,200 apple and pear trees and a small juicing factory that produces apple, pear and blended fruit juices. The quality of our products was recognised when in 2009, we were one of three finalists in the Sussex Food & Drink, Drink Producer Awards.
The Orchard business provides occupation and training for people with learning disabilities, supported by volunteers, and covers all aspects of the fruit production from managing the orchards, picking the fruit, working within the various juicing stages, filling, capping, labelling the bottles and selling to the local markets and the general public.
Being able to offer this unique experience, as part of our occupation and training service, greatly enhances our service provision and enables the people that we support to develop a very real sense of purpose and achievement in a proper working environment - including face to face selling of the juices to the general public in their local community.
