We can support you to live more independently by teaching you how to use public transport, whether that’s working out arrival times, paying your fare, or making sure you get off in the right place.
You may need help brushing your teeth, washing your hair or simply deciding what to wear in the morning. We’ll work with you to help you do as much as you can yourself.
There’s a lot of tasks people need to do day to day, like doing the washing up, cleaning the loo or vacuuming the carpet. We can support you to learn how to do this yourself, or look at other ways to get the job done.
Cooking and meals
We can support you to make sure you have a healthy diet, whether that’s deciding on what you need to buy, or helping you do the grocery shopping. We can also support you to learn how to prepare and cook food hygienically.
We’ll support you if you need to see a doctor or dentist, either by going into your appointment with you, or helping you get there.
If you have to go into hospital, we can work with hospital staff to show you exactly where you’ll be going and make you as comfortable as possible before your visit.
You might want someone to support you to take your medicine.
Everyone we support has the option to create a “heath action plan”, which includes information about your health needs, how to maintain and improve your health and your health preferences to make sure you receive the support you want.
We can help you manage your money. You might just need someone to pop in for an hour every couple of weeks to help you pay your bills. Or you might need a full financial service where we’ll manage your money for you and ensure you’re getting the right benefits.
We have very robust auditing processes in place to make sure your money is kept safe.
There's lots different technology available that make it easier to do things day to day, or help you live more safely.
You might want a gadget that gives you just enough hot water to make a cup of tea so you don’t have to worry about boiling a kettle. You might want an easy-to-use control to turn on the lights or telly, or pull the curtains. Or you might want a medicine dispenser that helps you take the right amount of medicine.
We can work with you to find out what things you might find difficult to do, and whether there’s a bit of technology that could make your life easier or safer.
