Care Act 2014: The new law for adult care and support

Did you know that people with learning disabilities AND family carers have stronger rights under the Care Act? This new law for adult social care came into force in April 2015.

Do you know how it might affect you and your son, daughter, brother, sister, husband, wife, cousin, niece, nephew, other relative or friend?

Our free sessions are designed for family carers supporting a relative or friend with a learning disability. They will give you the information and confidence you need to ensure your views are heard and to get the best support for you and your relative or friend.

Topics include:

  • Strengthened rights for family carers
  • Wellbeing and outcomes
  • Assessments and eligibility
  • Independent advocacy
  • Care and support planning
  • Charging – who pays?
  • Challenging decisions

Let us know if you are interested in us holding a Care Act session near you. We can run full day or half day sessions – email or phone us to find out more.
